Mayor's Message

Hardwick Township is a rural community located in northwest Warren County, bordered by the scenic Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Delaware River to the west. Established in 1749, Hardwick Township has been able, through the contributions of many dedicated residents over the years, to maintain it's unique rural character, here in the most densely populated state. We have a long history of community volunteers and municipal officials and boards, partnering together, to preserve farms and open space and protect the Township's sensitive environmental systems, historic sites and scenic vistas for future generations to enjoy. It is not uncommon for first time visitors, experiencing our town and area for the first time to say "I can't believe I'm still in New Jersey".

Today, Hardwick is the largest land mass town in Warren County, at 37 square miles, approximately half of which is located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. We offer an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities, whether your preference be hiking, photographing the countless scenic views and native wildlife population or exploring White Lake, Old Mine Road or the Vass Farmstead and the Hardwick Christian Church and Cemetery. We're confident that if you do visit Hardwick, you will have the same reaction as so many other first time visitors.

James Perry, Mayor
